In today’s news, the central market, Kejetia in Kumasi is on fire.
Fire has gutted the central market in Kejetia today the 15 of March, 2023; causing about 700 shops to be affected with the fire.
Properties worth millions of Ghana cedis have been destroyed as a result of the inferno.
Personnel from the Ghana fire service are on the scene to douse the fire and rescuing people trapped inside the story building where the shops are located.
Those injured are also being offered support by the police and transported to the hospital.
Reports from the scene says, a mother and a baby collapsed, due to the heavy smoke that has engulfed the whole building.
Many were also seen trying every effort using robes to climb down to safety from the building.
Traders affected by the incident are wailing while they try to salvage as many items as they can.
It is currently unclear, what really caused the fire outbreak and investigations are on going to bring calm to the scene and those affected.
