Mzbel provides backed the PRO of Ghana National Gas Company, Ernest Kofi Owusu-Bempah’s, statement not every popular person upon social media deserves to be known as a celebrity.
The controversial songstress, real name Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, bemoaned the way the tag of a celebrity continues to be reduced to the lowest pedigree in recent times.
“If someone needs to be called a celebrity the person should earn the title yet right now the moment someone gets popular on social media all of us start calling that person a celeb, ” she said within an interview on Kastle FM in Cape Coast.
“It’s not every popular person that is supposed to be called a celebrity yet unfortunately that’s how they are treating it here. ”
She recounted her earlier in the music industry, elaborating that before the popularity associated with social media it took effort for someone to be given identification as a celebrity.
She additional: “But in our time whenever we started music, social media was not there so for you to get a possibility on radio or TELEVISION or appear on a front side page of a newspaper, your own works must have gotten to an amount that makes you deserve that will privilege.
“So you have to acquire the title of a superstar but right now It’s not like this social media makes people celebs overnight and turn back to state all these people call by themselves celebrities, ” she finished.
