Meet up with George Akuffo Dampare: Ghana’s 23rd IGP getting all of the accolades for his great work

Doctor George Akuffo Dampare could be the 23rd Inspector-General of Law enforcement (IGP) of the Republic associated with Ghana.

He was sworn into office as the substantive IGP by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo upon Friday, October 8, 2021, after acting in that convenience of the last two months.

Until this particular appointment, Dampare was the Director-General in charge of Administration at the Ghana Police Service.

Aged, fifty-one, he is the youngest IGP to be appointed in the 4th Republic and the eighth most youthful since Ghana gained self-reliance.

Profile

Dr Dampare joined the Ghana Law enforcement Service (GPS) in December 1990, some 32 years ago, at 20 without secondary college education.

In 1991, upon completion of his recruit exercising, Dr . Dampare was adjudged the overall Best Recruit in the National Police Training College and won all honours except the award for that ‘Best Marksman’.

Again within 1996, he emerged the entire Best Cadet for the 32nd Cadet Officers’ Course on the Ghana Police Academy (formerly, Police College) and received all awards, including Quality in Professional Police Topics and Excellence in Educational Subjects.

He subsequently flower in the ranks after finishing various courses to become a good ACCA chartered accountant.

The particular COP also worked like a Research Fellow and lecturer at King’s College, College of London.

Aside from their policing, Dr Dampare furthermore lectured at the University associated with Cape-Coast (UCC), Ghana Start of Management and Open public Administration (GIMPA), Regent University or college College, and the Data Hyperlink University College.

He is furthermore one of the pioneer lecturers on the Business School of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Technology and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi.

Having passed the GCE Ordinary and Advanced degree examinations as a private applicant in 1989 and 1992 respectively, Dr Dampare proceeded to study accountancy and grew to become a Chartered Accountant within 1996 at age 25.

He’s served as the Director-General associated with Finance, Director General responsible for Welfare, Director General info Communication Technology, Commandant from the Police Command and Employees College, Accra Region Law enforcement Commander, Director General associated with MTTD, Administration, Research & Planning, among others.

COP Doctor Dampare became a Chartered Accountant at the age of 25 whilst serving as a Police Constable and currently holds the Ph. D. in Fund.

COP Dampare was a Unique Assistant to the Regional Leader, United Nations Mission in Bosnia Herzegovina, Municipal Police Leader, Cape Coast, ADC towards the Vice President of Ghana, Accountant/Finance Officer, Ghana Law enforcement Service, and the Head associated with Police and Narcotics Table at the Ministry of Inside.

Dr Dampare is a member of numerous professional associations including the Global Association of Chiefs associated with Police (ICP), International Organization of Crime Analysts (IACA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA), and the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).

Doctor Dampare has also served plus continues to serve on a number of boards including the Economic plus Organized Crime Office (EOCO) Governing Board, DataLink College College Council, Police Main Disciplinary Board, and the Pumpkins Foundation Board (a philanthropic organization for underprivileged kids, including those with autism).

They are married to a beautiful lady named Anita and has 6 children.
