Mother of Rastafarian student refused admission at Achimota College speaks

The story of the Rastafarian student denied entrance into Achimota School more than his locks has been well-known for days now.
The mother from the boy, Maanaa Meyers, offers expressed her opinion in regards to the whole situation.
She indicated her disappointment in the fact how the school and its management are not going to rescind their choice to not allow her child to enrol because of their dreadlocks.
Mrs Meyers talking with the media following the backwards and forwards between Achimota School, GES, NAGRAT and other interested body, insisted that the school challenging that her son slashes his hair is not correct.
“I am quite dissatisfied because there was no area for compromise. They were just insisting that we cut the particular boy’s hair. I also asked if there is any bargain where we can even link the hair a certain way exactly where it will not look disgusting because people perceive it… and they also said no, ” the lady said
Meanwhile, there have been low opinions regarding the situation since the School over the years has been acknowledging Caucasian students with relatively lengthier and overgrown hair.
The college, backed by its Older Students Association and NAGRAT, has made known its choice not to compromise on the requirement for the Rastafarian student to slice his hair despite an early on intervention by the Ghana Training Service.
