Nigeria bans Twitter after removing President Buhari’s tweet

Nigeria’s government has indefinitely hanging Twitter’s operations in the country.

In the statement, which was posted in the ministry’s official Twitter manage on Friday, the government arrested Twitter of allowing the platform to be used “for actions that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence. ”

Several pointed out the irony associated with announcing the ban upon Twitter, with one person responding: “You’re using Twitter in order to suspend Twitter? Are you not really mad? ”

The suspension system comes two days after Tweets deleted a tweet simply by President Muhammadu Buhari which was widely perceived as offensive.

Because tweet on Tuesday, the particular Nigerian leader threatened to cope with people in the country’s southeast, who he blames for that recurring attacks on community infrastructure in the region.

The twitter update was deleted Wednesday right after many Nigerians flagged this to Twitter and the system said it had broken its policy on violent behaviour.

A Twitter development “Thank God For VPN” has gone viral on the application as many Nigerians celebrate their own ability to circumvent the Tweets ban, through the use of a digital private network (VPN).

Customers who are logged into a guaranteed VPN server can access general public networks while their web connection remains anonymous and encrypted.
