The particular Inspector-General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh, has purchased banks to provide armoured bullion vans for the bulk transport of money across the country.
In a declaration on Monday, he stated the Service will be required to withdraw its police escorts for banks if they neglect to comply with the directive right at the end of June.
“The IGP is also reminding the Organization of Bankers to provide prepared armoured vehicles for carting currencies by the close associated with June 2021 as previously agreed between them and the Law enforcement Service, else the Police withdraws its officers for companion duties, ” the IGP warned in the statement.
This particular directive comes on the back from the latest daylight robbery assault on a bullion van upon Monday, June 14, 2021, which led to the loss of life of a young police officer and also a trader at Jamestown within Accra.

The driving force of the bullion van furthermore sustained gunshot wounds and it is currently receiving treatment in the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
A female who is a teller to the bullion van has also been delivered to the same hospital to be handled for trauma.

Meanwhile, the IGP has also met with authorities of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) over robbery episodes on officers providing safety for vehicles carting cash.
The engagement was designed to finalise deliberations on the replacing soft-skinned Cash-in-Transit vehicles along with armoured-plated ones.
